Different Strokes

19 May

First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do. ~Epictetus

The weather may be accommodating, but you still find yourself freezing. Freezing at the thought of where you are and where you’d want to be. Your peers are on the road to self actualization, success stories have really clouded your mind. You simply don’t want to look back on time and wonder why you danced to the beat of a different drummer.

Your current job, current undertaking makes you wonder what it will take to achieve the desires of your heart and mind. You look at your pocket, at your bank account, only a trickle. How then will you cross the goal line? How will you earn more money, be wealthy, drive a head-turning car, live in a leafy suburb, dine in the finest places, go wherever you want, own property, be considered successful?

Nothing is created suddenly, there must be time, to let it blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen. For you to achieve more, you need to understand the capacity to do that. Though the desires harboring in you are great, they must be strong, definite and broken down, to manageable pieces. It’s of little use to simply desire to be prosperous.

The Greek Stoic philosopher, Epictecus, said; be not swept off your feet by the vividness of the impression. Practice, for heaven’s sake in little things; thence proceed to greater. To rise up the class scale, to earn more, is not about jumping into a hot air balloon. You need to climb a ladder, one step at a time.

Know what you need to achieve what you want. Do you need to study a course, gain a skill set, be mentored or get more insight? Learn the tools, know how systems work. Therein you’ll have trained thy self to accomplish much more.

If you want to earn millions in farming, learn the basics of what makes farming successful. Start with an acre then proceed to two. Soon you’ll be able to manage five, fifteen, twenty or even 100 acres efficiently.

Want to be an entrepreneur or rise up the corporate ladder? Look at those who have achieved, find out how they did it. Dream big, start small. Learn the trade and increase your knowledge level. Seek more input from those who have been there, check with and trade that understanding with others.

For you to accumulate wealth, you need to have the wisdom of handling the small sums and then you’ll be able to handle much more. Learn and do it. Focus on what you are good at, on what you want to achieve. Deliberate and persevere. Slowly by slowly, you’ll be able to reach that point where you’ve increased your ability to earn more.

So don’t endure roller-coaster days ahead. Apply a different stroke in your life. Say what you would want to be and then do what you need to do, for there’s promise, verve and hope that the declaration of you achieving your dream hasn’t been overstated.

Vanity of all vanity, all is vanity.

In all things, give glory to God. It is He who gives and He who takes away. All the worrying and anxiety is for naught. Hard work, perserverance, long suffering and above all faith and trust in God… and you might just achieve your heart’s desire, if its in His will.

If you are healthy and have people whom you love, that love you back, you are good.

That’s some good insight, I totally agree we need to start somewhere and slowly build our way to where we want to be.
